The Grove Sports & Social Club in Atherstone recently hosted the Women’s Darts Charity Pairs Competition 2024, which took place over two enjoyable weeks in October. A total of 58 players participated, with games played across three boards, in an atmosphere of friendly competition and lively social evenings.
The winners, Maggie & Rosie, playing for the Groovy Grove Team, claimed the top prize of £100 after a series of closely contested matches.
Ann and Sheila, representing the Horse and Jockey, finished as worthy runners-up, taking home £60.
The event was once again sponsored by The Grove Miners Welfare Trust, which has generously supported the competition for over five years. Their continued commitment ensures that the event remains a highlight of the local darts calendar, fostering camaraderie and fun.
Beyond the enjoyable evenings of darts, the competition raised £211 for ORACLE, a head and neck cancer charity. This contribution will assist the charity in its vital work supporting patients and their families.
The Grove Sports & Social Club would like to thank all participants, sponsors, and spectators for making this year’s event such a success. We look forward to more evenings of friendly competition and social gatherings at next year’s event.
